Reticulated Python Growth Rate
So, as obvious from my last post, I've been on a retic kick lately. No way do I ever see myself in the position to be capable of taking care of one, but at least I have the Internet to soothe the pain...
Here's a gem I discovered clicking around: Prony, the largest captive reticulated python in the Philippines. Wild-caught at 5 feet in 1996, but as of 2005, she measured 23 feet and 200 kilograms.
That's one obese snake.
I'm definitely saving up to go to the Philippines and see her! LOL!
Edited to add a question:
Snake experts, do you think the reason for her being so laidback (as opposed to most wild-caught retics' behavior) is the fact that she's obese? I mean, with all that extra fat, I don't think anything can move as fast or as much as they were intended to... but then again I know next to nothing about snakes.
